HBO Deadwood fans are outraged and somewhat mystified that HBO has decided not to renew the Deadwood actors’ contracts, thus effectively ending HBO’s second-highest-rated series after only 3 seasons, especially since they had announced their intent for a 4th season last March.
Fans of the series are attempting to save Deadwood by mounting a letter-writing and emailing campaign to notify HBO that they will cancel their subscriptions after the 3rd season airs, beginning June 11, if HBO does not agree to a 4th season for the Emmy/Golden Globe/Peabody award-winning show.
The Real Deadwood Podcast is adding its support to this effort by featuring interviews in Episode #13 with HBO Deadwood actors W. Earl Brown (Dan Dority), Geri Jewell (Jewel), Ashleigh Kizer (Gem girl Dolly), and Leah Cevoli (Gem girl Leigh), discussing the impact of this decision on their professional and personal lives.
