Hi, Conn here from An tImeall Irish language podcast
Speaking and listening to Irish is a great way to get in touch with the feeling of Irishness – but it’s not the only way!
For people all over the world, Irish music communicates the essence of Irish culture – in a language which is universal, and accessible to all. The composer Seán Ó Riada understood the power of traditional music and he drew on that source when he composed the score for the film Mise Eire.
Commisioned in 1959, the complete soundtrack of Mise Eire has never been released until now
For the first time, Gael Linn presents the complete score – More than 40 minutes of music, digitally re-mastered from the original recording, as performed by the Raidio Eireann Symphony Orchestra, conducted by O Riada himself, on the 19th May 1959.
To celebrate the release of Mise Eire, An tImeall in association with Gael Linn is proud to offer you the chance to win your copy of the CD. Listen to podcast number 119 on imeall.blogspot.com and answer the following question:
“On what day of the week did the Easter Rising of 1916 begin in Dublin?”
Answers to imeall@gmail.com, before April 30th.
Check out the online music store at gael-linn.ie for this and other great Irish Music

Daily Podcast in the Irish Language at imeall.blogspot.com
A music/story podcast in one.
Welcome to the world of Dismay, the young fictional hero of this podcast whose girlfriend, Karen, dies in a frenzied attack as he watches helplessly and goes on what turns out to be a journey of self discovery.
Our hero jumps from one drama to another as he endures the attentions of the faceless man out to kill him and meets a whole host of unsavoury of characters along the way but with each meeting he learns more about himself and a world he never knew existed. The story is a dark and engaging one, complimented by an eclectic mix of music to help smooth things along and aid the story telling process. Listen on and you begin to realise that there is more to the music than just filling the gaps, there is an underlying theme to the carefully chosen tracks, an education of the soul, of the nicer things in life and that hope lives on.
