Are you one of those people who sees a movie and shouts to the screen, “I can do better than that!” Yes? Well, so am I. That’s why one year ago I started The Martini Shot podcast. Each episode I help the novice moviemaker take his first steps toward making his own movie.
And I don’t mean Uncle Harry’s home movies from your last birthday.
With tips, tricks, interviews, and commentary from industry professionals, you’ll be well on your way toward making your own short or feature length movie. And it will be good.
We’ll learn how to make do with the items we have, how to write our way out of a paper bag, how to use filmmaking terms correctly, and how to analyze some of the most successful movies out there to see what makes them tick.
Then you’ll be able to yell at the screen, “I’ve done better than that!”
Adam,
I listen to your show everyday. I started producing a podcast for Mansfield University last semester, talking with freshmen to get their experiences from the first day they arrive and watch their parents drive away, through the process of settling in their room, making friends, going to classes and learning the social structure of college. By getting their experiences in their own language, I hope to help high school seniors with the whole process of selecting and succeeding in college. This promo is actually two 30 second radio spots that we’re airing on about 20 stations throughout Pennsylvania and parts of New York State. Yes, we’re using a medium that’s losing audience to push listeners to a medium that’s gaining audience.
We did a commercial last fall talking about what podcasting is to educate commercial radio listeners about podcasting, hoping to help them into the general world of podcasting. Our show is still modest. We get about 800 hits a day, but we’re advertising on radio, in magazines targeting high school students and on myspace.com. We’re determined to keep expanding our audience base of high school students and their parents.
Keep up your excellent pioneering work, Adam!
